There are hundreds of millions of dollars being made from Oaxacan land every year in alcohol products, yet somehow Oaxaca remains one of the poorest provinces in Mexico. Maybe it’s time for bottom up approach to starting an alcohol brand. This exchange between the people, the land & the alcohol industry needs a make over. We propose starting a 10 percent trend, where our mezcal company invests 10 percent of its profits to micro finance the training of Oaxacan women in the ancient tradition of becoming maestras Mezcaleras. A tradition that has only recently opened up to women for the 1st time. Hopefully this will be the start of a new way to do business in Oaxaca.
