American sculptor-ceramicist Jonathan Cross (@jcrossstudio) takes a machete to a solid block of desert clay to form a side table at his base in Twentynine Palms, California.

‘It’s dry, and it’s clean and not cluttered,’ he says of his desert location, where his flourishing practice incorporates local sand and stones to create minimalist works with a unique patina.
