A few new facts I learned while spending time at the Athabasca Glacier:

-This year alone it has lost 9 vertical meters of ice. Which is a new record and blows away all other records on this glacier.

-In a few decades, most glaciers in the Canadian Rockies will be completely gone due to climate change.

*Note - Skating on a glacier can be extremely dangerous if done in the wrong area and due to the rough terrain on skates. We had an experienced team of people with us who scouted the area and took the precautions necessary for the utmost safety. Trying this yourself is strongly not advised.
