Rute Isabel Soares da Luz, a scholar from Lisbon, focuses on the teleoperation—remote control—of rovers with haptic devices. The Interact rover, which has several functions, is used for space geology research or to support astronauts. It was designed and assembled in-house.

This rover is the analogue of what will be sent to space. It's operated by an HRI system of controlling a remote mobile robot with grasping and manipulation capabilities. Haptic feedback allows the operator to feel the remote robot touching the remote environment. An identical model of this system is on board the International Space Station—and astronauts are using it. #WorldSpaceWeek
