Join me on this very important initiative to stop book bans in America. Did you know
i. In the 2022-23 school year, PEN America recorded more than 3,000 instances of book bans –a 33% increase from the 2021-22 school year.
ii. More than 40% of those book bans occurred in Florida alone.
iii. Characters of color, discussions of race and racism, and LGBTQ+
characters are overwhelmingly targeted for book bans.
iv. Polls clearly show that large majorities of American parents oppose book
