Sculpting the Senses’ shows an overview of Iris's work over the past 16 years. It will show the most iconic designs from past and present and also explores her forward-looking vision of fashion through more than 140 Haute Couture designs and accessories. The exhibition immerses you in her sensory universe and unites design, contemporary art and science on the basis of nine themes that together form the essence of Iris’s designs. Each week we will reveal a theme of the exhibition, today being ‘Water and Dreams’ . Water is omnipresent in Iris’s work and one of her earliest inspirations. It is the opening theme of the exhibition, revealing the mysteries and shapeshifting powers of this natural element. A bubble suspended in space, a lustrous wave, a transparent splash, water is ongoingly transformed by van Herpen into her creations. Whether in the shape of foam, crystalized liquid or waves, van Herpen decrypts its fluidity to grasp its purity, transparency and crystalline nature. ‘Iris van Herpen.
