フィンランドの巨匠／建築家アルヴァ・アアルト の人生と作品に迫るドキュメンタリー 映画 “ AALTO ” を観てきた。なんとなくわかっていた気がしていたが、全くわかってなかったって事が良くわかりました・・・と同時にアアルトのことがますますミステリアスになっていくという不思議体験。
淡々と時系列で紹介されていく人生と作品。そして最初の妻でありパートナーの“ アイノ・マルシオ ” 、そして晩年を支えた後妻でありパートナーの “ エリッサ・マキニエミ ” 。二人の良き理解者がアアルトをアアルトにしたのだと感慨深いエピソード。あんなに多くのプロジェクトを最小限のスタッフで運営したなんて奇跡！合理的にアアルトを学ぶ事の出来る、地味だけど良い映画でした。

I have just watched the documentary film "AALTO" about the life and works of the Finnish master/architect Alvar Aalto. I thought I knew him as a designer, but it turned out that I didn't know at all... At the same time, Aalto's life and works became more and more mysterious to me.
His life and works are presented in a chronological order. Aino Marsio, his first wife and partner, and Elissa Mäkiniemi, his second wife and partner, who supported him in his later years. These two good partners made Aalto the Aalto he was. It is a miracle that they managed so many projects with such a minimal staff!
It was a good, if unspectacular, film that allowed us to learn Aalto in a rational way.
