In his first solo museum exhibition, Sanzgiri uses a speculative and poetic approach to storytelling. Through his work, the artist likens memory and diaspora thinking to the ocean—fluid and ever evolving. Sanzgiri’s work throughout the exhibition considers how lived experience and memory—particularly those bound up with the fight for liberation—are often erased by those who maintain official state histories. The artist would like to thank Sham-e-Ali Nayeem (@sham_e_ali_nayeem) who wrote the script for the film and Amirtha Kidambi (@kidominator) and Booker Stardrum (@bookerstardrum) who wrote the score for the film.
