I’m not a minimalist. Neither was my grandpa. His home looked like an eclectic museum of heirlooms and curiosities from his ventures to and fro. Every room in his home awakened my imagination through doorways of insatiable wonder. Nothing was off limits in his aesthetic array when I was a child. I could peek, snoop, hold, admire and muse through it all. I suppose over time I gathered a bit of his style into my own. I liked the way he displayed his treasure trove and I loved our shared appreciation of the sentiment within each. While I appreciate simple and bare, there’s something in my bones that gravitates towards textures, arrays, colors and accoutrements. It tells a story and that is what I am drawn to in any given thing. What about you? Any fellow maximalist-style kindreds out there too?
