And yes, I buy things with poly in it (I don’t think poly is bad! So many great brands use it and it can make items more durable.) But when a brand makes silk slip skirts and charges $300 for them and all of the sudden starts making the same skirt in acetate and charging the same price or more, I won’t be buying that item. Natural fibers (or blends with natural fibers) are often king and the most expensive to produce and purchase.

Checking your labels not only can help instruct you how to care for an item but it can give you insight into the cost. Synthetic fabrics can be a little cheaper to produce clothing but I’ve noticed brands still upping their prices while cheapening the materials and that’s what I look for while shopping. Again, synthetic doesn’t equal bad—you’d be hard pressed to find a blazer out there without poly but the blend and price should help dictate your buying.
