💡The rare blood red aurora, also known as a stable auroral red (SAR) arc, is a type of aurora that is red in color. It is caused by the interaction of high-energy electrons from the solar wind with oxygen atoms in the Earth’s upper atmosphere. The electrons excite the oxygen atoms, causing them to emit red light.
