To celebrate Orangutan Awareness Week, here is a gorgeous video from OFI’s Orangutan Care Centre starring infant orphan orangutan Royal having her bath after a big day out at Forest School.
A vital part of OFI’s work is the rehabilitation of rescued orphan orangutans. Rehabilitation is a long and arduous process. Rehabilitating orphan orangutan infants takes many years of care, nurture, and monitoring. You cannot just put infants back into the jungle! They cannot survive in the wild without their mothers. The Care Centre is a half-way house for orangutans, providing them with food, shelter and love along with the skills they will need when they are old enough to be released back into the wild.
