Meet Dawn.

In 2001, she worked for the Mayor’s Office in New York City, just two blocks away from the Twin Towers. She fell ill afterwards, and relies on 10 to 15 medicines to keep her alive – including Januvia.

Dawn’s co-pays on her lifesaving medications used to be $100, but have skyrocketed to $350 to $400 a month. Now, she and her husband David often are forced to decide which bill to pay late each month in order to afford her prescriptions and make ends meet.

Dawn’s story is one that too many Americans can unfortunately relate to. In 2022, seniors spent over $238 million out-of-pocket on Januvia – all while Big Pharma made record profits.

Under President Biden, Medicare now has the ability to negotiate lower prescription drug prices for seniors under the Inflation Reduction Act, and Januvia is one of the first ten drugs selected for this program. Meaning Americans like Dawn could soon pay less for the medicine they need to survive.

The Biden-Harris Administration will keep fighting to lower prescription drug costs and give folks more breathing room.
