It is known as a prime example of Giyōfū architecture. This style of building combined elements of Western and Eastern design and represented a period of cultural enlightenment. Examples of this can be seen in the sculptures of dragons and auspicious clouds combined with angelic motifs and Western balcony construction. *The Former Kaichi School is currently closed for earthquake-proofing.
