Madonna: This was for W Magazine and our first time working together. From the very start there was an excitement of collaboration, the meeting of two souls with the same agenda, which is to bring art even to the most commercial endeavors. She was not Madonna in this shoot but a performance artist divorced from pop culture, nor was glamor a question, for instead she inhabited the space of an artist using the body as a type of grammar.
