I've witnessed your personal development, watched you triumph over challenges, and sidestep around all the shards of glass from the ceilings you've shattered along the way," model, actress, and activist Naomi Campbell said, presenting the Mark Boxer Award to her friend Edward Enninful OBE.
As the BSME's lifetime achievement award, the Mark Boxer Award is voted by our committee members and celebrates someone who has shown an outstanding commitment to magazine journalism throughout their career.
"Edward, you have often said and demonstrated that fashion can't just be about clothes. It has to be about change. And change, my friend, is what you have been instrumental in bringing about - both on the runway and in the magazine world - and for that, we thank you."
Enninful has been instrumental in bringing Black models to the forefront, supporting the Diversity Coalition, co-creating the first Vogue Italia 'Black Issue' in 2008, and providing a platform to showcase Black talent.
