Based on the philosophy of The Great Harmonization.
Miwa Komatsu completed two paintings and donated them to the Commune of Mont-Saint-Michel and Hatsukaichi City.
Although they belong to different religions, both Mont Saint-Michel and Itsukushima Shrine have a long history as sacred places of faith floating on the sea. I felt a common strength in the prayers spun by people over the ages, building sanctuaries in the harsh environments of the sea, amidst wars and natural disasters.

観光友好都市であるフランスのモン・サン=ミッシェルと広島県廿日市市の友好をアートにより深めることができて光栄に存じます。
宗教は違えど両者には、モン・サン=ミッシェルと嚴島神社という海の上に浮かぶ信仰の聖地として長い歴史があります。戦争や自然災害などの厳しい環境である海の上に聖域を建築し、時代を超えて人が紡いでいるという祈りの強さは共通していると感じました。
一枚は廿日市市に、もう一枚はモン・サン=ミッシェル市に寄贈させていただきました。
