The Sentinel Award recognizes writers for their “meaningful and accurate portrayals onscreen that tackle timely and important topics including abortion, systemic racism, climate change, and mental health.” The EPs, writers and I worked very closely this season with oncologists, surgeons, survivors, and the families who love them. We’re thrilled it had such a direct impact: When Clark joined a support group for family members of people fighting cancer, Google showed a 33% spike in searches for “breast cancer support groups.” As the episodes aired, searches for “breast cancer” jumped 14% from the same months in 2021. In June 2023 alone, there was a 22% increase in searches online for breast cancer informational websites.
