Today we placed a small, black armband on Kermit the Frog in honor of the passing of Jane Nebel Henson.
Jim Henson met Jame in the mid-1950s in a puppetry class at the University of Maryland. They married in 1959. Jane was actively involved in many Muppet projects and did much for this museum. At a 2010 donation ceremony at the Museum, she remarked how glad she was to have the Muppets back in Washington, D.C., where they first appeared: "Now they get to greet old friends and meet new ones." Kermit is on display in "American Stories" on the museum's second level. #muppets #henson
