Figured for my thousandth photo I'd share my favorite image I've taken. People might suppose it would be an image from Wedge because that's been my local spot for over 25 years now but honestly no where is closer to my heart than Hawaii. My first full winter on the North Shore was when I began learning what it meant to be a man... to have integrity and Aloha... and it was my uncles like Chris Burkart, Kainoa McGee and Jacky Buder that taught me... sometimes with a heavy hand but I appreciate every slap I got that beat the kook out of me. It was also this stretch of beach on the North Shore that taught me what the true power of the ocean was... I thought growing up at the Wedge I would slide right in but my first time paddling out at Pipe as Shawn Briley paddled over the ledge of a heaving liquid monster I quickly found out that Hawaii is in a league of it's own and Wedge quickly became nothing more than a summer time training ground for the waves I would ride in the Winters to come. So I dedicate this image to all my Hawaiian Ohana who loved me and helped me to be a better person and the Hawaiian Land and Ocean that caused me to truly fall in love with the earth over the world. I also love this picture because since I started shooting it's been water working together with light that has really captured my eye and what's a better example of that than a rainbow. I feel so blessed to have been in this moment to capture it. Thanks everyone for finding interest in my photography... at this time your positivity is really the only return on my investment and to me there's nothing more valuable. AL❤HA
