Norman G. Dyhrenfurth, another in the 'heros' series. Norman is a Swiss born filmmaker and was the leader of the '63 American Everest Expedition that put six Americans on the summit long before the line up when #everest was still very much a wild place. Normans vision and dedication to the expedition also allowed for the first traverse of the mountain and the first ascent of the unrepeated American West Ridge route. Those were very different times...they included years and years of fundraising, months of approach time, and unfettered tenacity...going to Everest was akin to going to the moon. Thank you Norman for sharing a moment and a story with me. You've given so much to so many generations without even a glance backwards...humility at its finest.
