In early November I made several helicopter flights over the New Jersey Shore to document the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy for The New Yorker, and went back in a few weeks ago to see what had changed. Over the next seven days you will see a series of before-and-after views of the most devastated parts of the coast between Seaside Heights and Manasquan (seen below). Here sand was being removed from city streets and brought back to the beach to build a protective barrier before a winter snow storm blew in.
