Today’s photos in the motogallery focus on the transition in Afghanistan. There has always been a partnership between the Marines and their Afghanistan National Army and National Police counterparts since the Marines first arrived more than a decade ago. Early on, much of the effort was put into training and advising. Many operations saw Marines in the lead, with ANA and ANP joining along. Now that role has reversed, with the ANA and ANP in the lead, but each looks out for the other, like in the image featured here.
