This is a replica of one of the many dresses worn by Catherine the Great. Apparently, the skirt had to be as wide as the woman's arms, raised straight to the sides. When Catherine the Great died they found over 15,000 dresses in her closet...she did not wear the same dress twice. Check out the portrait in the foreground, can you imagine how that must have been to wear in 1700's??
