We need more intimacy in the world. Life passes by so fast. We are busy running from place to place, stressing, worrying... It's easy to miss out on the true connection that makes it all worthwhile. On the bus, the street, the subway; look closely and you will see people making an effort not to connect with others. Avoiding eye contact, choosing an empty seat at the furthest corner possible, staring at smart phones - we try hard to keep ourselves disconnected from the people around us.
Think about it. When was the last time you started a conversation with a stranger? When was the last time you smiled at someone, for no reason? When was the last time you made a new friend? As human beings we need connection. We need intimacy. As a matter of fact, we need it so badly we cannot live without it. Disconnecting from the world creates the illusion of protection from the outside world, but the truth is that we are stronger together. There is no separation. We are all one. We are in this together, and we are here now. Don't waste what you've been given. Use your time on this earth to create, to connect, to shine. Make someone's day a little better. Hug, kiss, touch, embrace, lend a hand, smile, talk, listen, give compassion, forgive. Be a part the whole. Don't stand on the outside looking in.
