Typhoon Haiyan destroyed nearly 90% of all schools in affected areas of the Philippines, leaving over a million students and 35,000 teachers without places to learn and teach. My family and I spent part of our holiday visiting these schools, assessing the damage, pledging to rebuild the campus’ and offering student’s scholarships to finish their school year. The optimism, resilience and gratitude of the communities have been an incredible inspiration to me.
