Hanging with school kids in San Jose, Tacloban Philippines. Even though the school had it's roof ripped off, it generously gave up two classrooms to house the birthing clinic. Tents were built inside the open air classrooms so the birthing rooms could at least have shelter from the wind, if not the rain. A roof has since been built out of scrap metal that was tossed by the typhoon. When disasters strike a lot of things stop, but babies being born don't wait, that's why the work of midwives is so important in crisis areas and why I've supported @bumisehat natural birthing center and @robinlim for the last 8 years as she's travelled to Aceh after the Tsunami, Haiti after the earthquake and now to the Philippines all while running the center in Bali. #inspiring #awesome #1159
