J D Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye for Penguin. Art Direction: John Hamilton. Salinger had specified he didn't want any imagery on the book jackets for his back catalogue. Pretty intimidating designing the cover of an iconic book when I knew Salinger wanted to sign them off himself, which thankfully he did.
