Photo by @daveyoder--Workers prepare to install reflective panels on a European radio telescope destined for placement at 16,500 feet altitude in the Atacama Desert in Chile as part of the largest-ever astronomy project, called ALMA. 66 of these dishes, contributed by North America, East Asia and Europe, are networked into a giant array and are currently searching the heavens for data concerning many questions, including how the Universe was formed. Its construction is accurate to the micron, and I can't believe they let me walk around on it. #chile #atacama #alma @thephotosociety
