When I was twenty-three years old I woke up from a dream about Sri K. Pattabhi Jois with the words “I have to go to India” on my lips. Two weeks later I bought my ticket to go to Mysore, India for two months. This journey changed the course of my life and over the last fifteen years Guruji and his grandson R. Sharath Jois have taught me the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method. One afternoon on my first trip to Mysore, I asked, with shaky voice, "Guruji, where will I find the inner peace they say comes from the yoga practice? Where does it come from anyway?” He said, "You take it practice many years, then shanti is coming, no problem," and my heart opened to the grace of his teaching. It is my great fortune to consider this amazing man my teacher, and I attribute the depth of my personal practice and teaching to the light that Guruji's fire ignited within me. I can still remember the hunger that I had for the practice when I first started. I was driven to this practice out of an honest desire to find a more peaceful life. It is my mission in life to share the yearning for the true spiritual peace with as many people as possible. ?
