Almost finished making this jacket for my homeboy, @ttgopp ! #crass #dyi #bestfriends
In my early teens, all my punkrock buddies would always have me paint their leather jackets and make homemade patches since we were too poor to buy any official merch. Somethin about hand-painting the logos of our favorite bands onto our clothes gave em a look that was way cooler than if we'd been able to afford the real stuff anyway. Lo and behold, a neighborhood friend who had been tattooing our circle of friends, noticed my artistic inclination, and asked me to tattoo him.
So at the age of 14, I got to do my very first tattoo, (it was probaby the worlds crummiest Misfits skull, but it was rad none the less)...and the rest is history.
Painting this jacket for @ttgopp has been fulfilling on so many levels, because it took me back to that place in my mind, when as a kid who had no self judgement of what I was creating. Sometimes, staying true to that sort of freedom can get lost the older you get. xo.
