Photo @Cory Richards This sheep is feeling light without ten pounds of wool holding it down! I spent the past two days with #HelleRambouillet outfit, along with @duckworthco and @schnees_montana documenting one piece, sheep shearing, in a very big process that is the wool industry. All of this is a part of a larger story documenting people and predators, specifically wolves, in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Because sheep are smaller livestock, they are easier prey for wolves and grizzlies. Predation on a flock can have devastating economic repercussions for ranchers. Range management, Fish Wildlife and Parks, the NPS, and Wildlife services all help mitigate the conflict, but every year the ripple effect of the predator rich landscape is felt throughout the periphery of the park.
