Early Morning Digging. @ファレル・ウィリアムス & @jdilla were the only two cat I knew who used to get up at the crack of dawn and start working on beats like it was a job 6am to 12pm without fail. Which explains why 6 hours a day, 365 days a year for decades how they reached that Zen Gladwellian Genius level. You discipline yourself and apply and execute it and then a hard task doesn't seem so hard after awhile. When Dilla passed in 2006 I slagged off something horrible. I haven't done that 6 hour task in 8 years damn near. Woke up on my bday in Jan and decided to jump back in the pool. It's like riding a bike BUT technology has changed so much in the last few it's like I have to teach myself how to make beats again from scratch. I won't get my audio equippment complete til July. But for the time being, I'm getting back into the habit of digging in the crates and discovering new old music. Been on a gospel kick lately (if you notice the last few Roots albums are piano heavy) so I'm finding amazing gems in these old 70s/80s Mass Choir & Suthern Quartet tunes. Ok class over.
