Teotihuacan, the most visited archaeological site in Mexico. This city was built somewhere around 100BC, and at its peak was one of the largest cities in the world, its influence seen even in the Maya culture. It preceded the great Aztec civilization by a few hundred years, and when the Aztecs stumbled upon the city centuries after it was abandoned, its magnificence led them to call it Teotihuacan, which means "birthplace of the gods".
