We had just launched back in the spring of 2008 and found out that one of our first customers was Robin Williams. He bought a few pieces from our first collection at Fred Segal in LA. One of the buyers had emailed us and said "Dude, Robin Williams just came in and bought a bunch of your stuff!!" We were like "Robin Williams as in Mork-and-Mindy-O- Captian-My-Captian-Robin Williams????" Not the exact demographic we were thinking but nevertheless the news brought a big smile to our faces. We were surprised but blown away that the man behind so many of our favorite characters growing up would even notice our little brand. A couple of weeks later, clips from his impromptu stand up routine during a BBC World Debate surfaced online. Again we were blown away to see him completely outfitted in PS!?!? Since then we've had some pretty awesome people wear our stuff but probably none that made us feel so good about it. Not sure if it's because he was a gifted actor and comedian that culturally effected our generation or because it just felt good knowing that someone who made other people feel so good liked what we were doing. Much of what we do through Public School is to try and make people feel a little more confident or a little more happy but nothing compared to how Robin Williams helped to make people all around the world laugh and feel better. Thank you for every smile, every creation and that last Snicker's commercial. We will win this for mother Russia! #riprobinwilliams
