#AlfredRusselWallace 's ability' as a field biologist were without compare. After almost drowning in a shipwreck where he lost several years of his specimens collecting in Brazil, the undaunted Wallace headed for Southeast Asia. A great book about his time on this area, "The Song of the Dodo" by #DavidQuammen is a must read for anyone who wants to understand field biology and the evolution of evolutionary biology. This picture is a Wallace beetle collection that was saved by #DrGeorgeBeccaloni of the #NaturalHistoryMuseum in England. #Beccaloni is the curator of the Wallace collection and painstakingly repaired this beetle collection which was brought to him by a relative of #ARW. I was luck to work with #Dr.Beccaloni as a "guide" while working on "The Other Dawin" for @ナショナルジオグラフィック @thephotosociety @instituteartist
