This week's #ThrowbackThursday was taken at an altitude of approximately 3200m, close to the top of #SierraNevada in the south of #Spain in July 1996. About half a kilometer further up, the road was completely blocked with a wall of ice.
#LonelyPlanet staffer Neil Manders was on a week long cycle touring trip from #Granada, down to the Andaluz coast, round the Cabo de Gata and up the Murcia and Alicante coast: 'The air was pretty thin up there. On the way up, we met 2 Hungarian cyclists with virtually no equipment who had somehow dragged their bikes across the ice and were stopped by the road side with a puncture. I was able to provide a patch to get them back on their way.' #tbt #travel
