One of the greatest thrills of my life has been to swim with many species of sharks all over the world. The blue shark, however, with its electric blue color melding into the rich, clear waters 50 miles off the coast of #Britishcolumbia is by far the most beautiful species of shark I have ever seen. Blue sharks, one of the 14 shark species living in BC waters, are frequently killed as by-catch of fisheries. This is causing a population decline and a near threatened global status for this shark. Reducing the by-catch of sharks is key for healthy marine ecosystems. #protectourseas #picoftheday, #instagramhub @natgeocreative
