The Costa Concordia was a Itlalian cruise ship that wrecked off the coast of Isola del Giglio in Italy on January 13, 2012. A 174 foot (52 meter) long gash was made in the port side hull after the 952 foot (290 meter) ship struck a massive rock. Removal of the vessel and her 2,380 tons of fuel, breaking down the ship to metal scrap at the Port of Genoa, and repairing the damage to Isola del Giglio will cost approximately $2 billion (€1.5 billion).
