Controlled Burn, ACE Basin NWR

Through slavery, war, rebellion, agriculture and innovation, the hand of man has never been far from shaping, destroying and preserving this landscape.

25 years ago a community of private and public minds moved toward preserving this fragile ecosystem nestled and surrounded by development is just 30 miles from Charleston, South Carolina. Today it's known as the ACE Basin, one of the last great estuaries.

My work from the last 8 years has just been published in the November 2014 issue of @ナショナルジオグラフィック.
