“This photo is probably the first of its kind from the air. This is Abbot Pass; you can see the hut in the saddle of the pass. This was the birthplace of climbing and mountaineering in Western Canada. It’s named after Philip Stanley Abbot, who attempted the first ascent of Mt Lefroy, pictured on the left - sadly, after three attempts to the summit over two years, Abbot’s final attempt was North America’s first ever mountaineering fatality in 1896.” @calsnape with words and photo.
