The incredibly fertile but fragile rolling hills of the Palouse in Washington, just as sunset cast deep shadows from hill to hill. These hills are highly susceptible to wind erosion. I'm traveling to Washington this week to show two decades of work for National Geographic about food and feeding at Nat Geo HQ. Feeding our planet has been a rich subject for me and it looms as a turning point in human history as we approach 9 billion people.
