Following up #video on last night's post. This was right after. Full video on Facebook (link in bio). A lot of people misunderstood mama's terminology & thought she was talking about declawing me. She would NEVER do that! She supports the @paw_nation & @pawproject and has made posts for them stating how I've never gotten in trouble with my claws because since I was a kitten I enjoyed the scratch posts in my home. I don't like though when my claws get sharp so I gently dig them into mamas legs so she can feel how sharp they are to signal to trim them. We have been doing this routine for 5 years and as you can see I am not resisting. I really do "ask for it" when needed. She is very gentle and careful. It's is very important to have a calm kitty when trimming the claws so you don't cut down too far. She only cuts off the very tip where it becomes sharp. I don't like my nails sharp and over the last 5 years we have an unspoken understanding and trust about this issue. I'm very mellow and never ever mind when mama has to handle me for any reason like at the vet, nail trim, changing collars, etc.
So the biggest message is don't declaw! This video shows you how simple and fast it can be to give your kitty a quick trimming. I know we're all different but for me, I prefer her to trim them and I stay still, very comfortable for it. I won't claw through her jeans again for at least a few more weeks...he he!
Hope this clears things up and also brings awareness to the alternative to inhumane declawing. ?
