Plenty of action at yesterday’s #SurflineLive at Mavericks, including at least one incident of a boat getting too close to the impact zone. Surfline’s @billywatts was on board during the incident and had this to say: “that was an epic first experience at Mavericks to say the least. I was standing next to Mark Healey (@donkeyshow) when we saw the wave coming. I asked him what to do and he said "I'm jumping!" and launched himself overboard. He was still in his wetsuit and I had on jeans and three sweatshirts. That's when I was enlightened to the fact that I was screwed! I wish I would of acted like Clooney in the Perfect Storm, but I think I screamed, probably wet myself, and clung to that pole helplessly. Luckily the wave just clipped the back of the boat and spun us back around straight.” Fortunately for all involved, aside from some damaged camera gear, there were no injuries during the incident.
