As part of my 2015 New Years resolution I'm going back to my pre-baby pace of reading a-book-a-month. January's book is The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace by my friend @hobbsarc This book is beautiful and heartbreaking and like all great literature the heartbreak is in the details and Hobbs painted a world so vivid and honest that i couldn't help but invest in it. So much so, that at this point in the book I was reduced to tears for a man that just 386 pages prior I had never met -- "The death of someone you know is so vastly different from reading of the same event happening to a stranger. You are familiar with your friend's face and voice, and so you are haunted, during the overstimulated state of being awake at four in the morning, by the very specific expressions and sounds he might have made as a bullet, perhaps more than one, passed into his body. The terrible resoluteness of this passage had likely happened not long after my wife and I, three thousand miles away, had undergone our nightly Sqaure dance - one flosses while the other brushes, then switch - padding softly on the floorboards so as not to wake our little girl" - Jeff Hobbs
