It's the first time a Sierra Nevada Red Fox has been spotted in Yosemite National Park in nearly 100 years! Little is known about this rare #fox in part because they're so hard to track down, but according to the U.S. Forest Service, they live in remote and rugged habitats. They are thought to be one of the rarest and most endangered red fox subspecies in North America. And it's believed fewer than 50 foxes and perhaps as low as 15 remain. Scientists hope that this sighting can help protect them.
