Good Morning Everyone!? This little baby orphan Orang Utan is native to my North Sumatra Rainforest. He is 3 years old and his parents were killed by palm oil plantation workers for "trespassing" and eating palm fruit. For the past 3 years, a couple who owns a warung near the plantation took care of him and treated him like a human baby with diapers and clothes, they didnt know any other way. They also didn't understand how to take care of a delicate animal like naughty Steve and treated him ill at times. Someone saw this injustice and took Steve away from the warung to the closest safe place, Pematang Siantar zoo, which is owned and managed by my Father. Steve is so domesticated and use to humans that he needs time to blend in with the other wild Orang Utans. To add to that, Steve has a lot of trauma and cuts and gets very sad just like any one of us who has been physically hurt before. We at Siantar zoo have vets and caretakers that are looking out for him and once he is well enough to join the others and get use to no diapers (and clothes!), we will have to let him go back with his new family. This will take a little bit of time. Till then, we just want him happy. Personally, I love him to bits and am enjoying my few days with him but I have no intentions to keep him to myself as my pet. As with the other saved or sick baby animals I grew up with, having a famiIy zoo and a conservanist father, I will have to say...goodbye. I'm going to be very sad to say goodbye to baby Steve but we need Steve to be a great Dad one day to strong and healthy Sumatran Orang Utans! I share my fun with Steve with all of you because I am obsessed with him and I want to share his beauty with the world! I want Indonesians to know how precious our Orang Utans are and how special we are to have them here in North Sumatra and Borneo. We have to treasure them. As, you can see..Steve is so much like us. He is loving, needs affection, needs special care and for people to fight for his home, the rainforest. We must fight for his home. Alam telah memberikan hidup pada kita maka kita wajib memberikan hidup pada alam....But first...☝️ Let me take a selfie! ?❤️ #steve #orangutan #sumut
