"We all had a tense night waiting to see what would happen with two lion cubs who got separated from their mothers and four siblings when they refused to cross a deep channel in the Selinda Reserve. They spooked and turned back and despite the two lionesses making several dangerous and exhausting crossings, refused to budge. The lionesses had no choice but to leave them when the sun set and get back to the other four on the opposite bank. Fortunately the two cubs made it through a long, miserable night and the lionesses returned at dawn. There was no reluctance this time. They immediately clung to their mothers backs like monkeys and swam with these remarkable lionesses back to the rest of the pride. Their relief is palpable - and so is ours.
