In his 1871 "Woman with Parrot (La femme à la perruche)" on view now in our collection gallery, the painting predates Renoir’s bright and radiant Impressionist style. The dark hues in this painting have also been described as a celebration of the color black, which Renoir called “the Queen of the colors.”
