As you know, declawing is a terrible thing to do to a kitty. To add to the cruelty of this whole issue, there are property and apartment management companies who sadly require a kitty to be declawed before it can live in one of their rentals. So even if a poor kitty is being good with its claws, they are requiring it’s toes and claws to be amputated before the renter can move in. I know…it’s so very wrong and inhumane. I’m putting together a list of these places who require cats to be declawed and those who do NOT require cats to be declawed. Many of you have already sent me word that Flaherty and Collins, with 15,500 multifamily units in 12 states across the nation, has a “pet friendly policy” that requires cats to be declawed. That's not pet "friendly" at all and those poor cats will suffer needlessly?The good news is, there are laws passed in California and Rhode Island that outlaw this requirement but we need it to be banned in EVERY state.
